Non-Academic Entry Requirements: 
All applicants need to attend an interview and bring a portfolio of work that demonstrates a range of creative thinking and technical skills applied to your chosen subject or other design related projects. Overview
The HNC in Fashion and Textiles is a one-year qualification designed to equip you with a wide range of creative and technical skills which will allow you to work as a fashion or textile designer within the industry. This course equips you with the essential skills you will need heading into industry. The tutors will challenge your preconceptions of the fashion design process and the potential range of fashion career paths available to you within the fashion industry. The course will also place your design skills within a working context and prepare you for tomorrow’s professional world. 

The HND in Fashion and Textiles is also a one-year qualification designed to develop the knowledge gained during your HNC. You will be encouraged to expand your own practice and find your own voice. Students benefit from working within a collaboration and creating their final collection. The course will also place your fashion design skills within a working context and prepare you for the professional world by creating an online presence. You will also learn promotional and networking tools which are integrated into the programme structure. 

Studying fashion in the hub of London will allow you make use of the surrounding cultural facilities in order to inspire and develop your work.

WHAT WILL I EXPERIENCE?
The HNC/D Fashion and Textiles will provide opportunities to develop your vision and ideas, exploring areas of specific interest to you. Upon course completion, you will be well-versed in the many aspects of fashion design, textile design and production. These skills will be complemented by an understanding of the historical, social, political and economic influences on fashion design. 

Both courses will provide opportunities to develop your vision and ideas, exploring areas of specific interest to you. 

Guided by highly-experienced teaching staff, you will learn to develop an individual approach to work, utilising your skills to support self-led personal and collaborative projects. 

On completion of the course you will be well-versed in the many aspects of fashion design, textile design and production. These skills will be complemented by an understanding of the historical, social, political and economic influences on fashion design. The course will also provide you with a sound knowledge of business and marketing principles to ensure a broad understanding of the fashion and textile industry and its organisation.

Throughout the course you will be encouraged to develop your own practice by combining practical skills. Drawing and design development will be coupled with teaching of the awareness of their application within the creative industries. You will learn a broad range of skills which will be applicable to a variety of creative fashion career pathways.

PROGRESSION
Upon successful completion of the HNC, students can either progress onto the HND Fashion and Textiles at LCCA or to the second year of an honours degree, depending on the match of the HNC units to the degree course in question. HND students could also progress further onto a BA (Hons) Fashion Design Degree.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
Higher National Certificates (1 Year)
  • Minimum age: 18
  • Four or five GCSEs (grades A*-C, (4) or above) or Level 2 qualification equivalent
  • Typically two A-levels (D or above), BTEC National Diploma or any NARIC recognised equivalence - every application is considered on an individual basis
  • English proficiency: IELTS 5.5 (with minimum 5.0 for each component) or equivalent (CEFR Level B2)
  • Mature applicants: (over 21) are considered subject to satisfactory literacy and numeracy, work experience (if applicable). All applicants will be required to attend an interview and complete a creativity task

Higher National Diplomas (1 Year)
  • Minimum age: 18
  • Four or five GCSEs (grades A*-C, (4) or above) or Level 2 qualification equivalent
  • Typically two A-levels (D or above), BTEC National Diploma or any NARIC recognised equivalence - every application is considered on an individual basis
  • Full Higher National Certificate (RQF) in a related subject
  • English proficiency: IELTS 5.5 (with minimum 5.0 for each component) or equivalent (CEFR Level B2)
  • All applicants will be required to attend an interview and complete a creativity task
