Our Law with Government and Politics is a three year qualifying law degree. The course focuses on key legal topics and has options that focus on government and politics. It has a practical focus, with employability integrated into the course.

There is a high level of face-to-face tuition. Law modules are delivered predominantly by professionally qualified lawyers. Students will study key legal topics and related skills that are critical for the modern law student and gain an insight into critical legal, government and political topics. Employability is integrated into the course to give you the academic knowledge and key transferable skills which are in demand by today's employers across the globe.

This degree is designed for students who have an interest in government and politics and wish to pursue a career in the legal and wider public, central and local government sectors, or the commercial sector.

The first year is a foundation year, which focuses on developing an understanding of the legal sector and the key skills required to undertake the LLB (Hons) Law Degree with Government and Politics. The subsequent three years then follow our full-time course.

Students starting their course in September 2020 will have the opportunity to attend our International Leadership Summer School in Berlin, during the second year of their degree or third year of a degree with Foundation Year.* This week will focus on developing employability skills.

Our modular structure enables you to gain insight into the critical legal topics that are most useful in the legal and criminal justice system, as well as studying Government and Politics.

You'll study a total of 18 modules over the three years of the course. Modules for the optional foundation year are also shown below.

For Law modules, each single taught module consists of face-to-face tuition in 11 large groups and 11 x two-hour face-to-face sessions in small-group workshops.

Of the six optional modules over Years 2 and 3 one must be a law option and at least four must be Government and Politics modules. Students studying at campuses who are also offering Law with Criminology, Law with Criminal Justice, Law with Legal Innovation and Technology and Business School courses, may be able to choose options from those programmes as well.

Each year is made up of two semesters consisting of 12 teaching weeks and one week consolidation/revision and two weeks to complete assessments. You will study a total of 18 modules over the three years of the course.
