COURSE OVERVIEW
This programme will enable you to understand how the global oil and gas industry operates and acquire the necessary skills and abilities you need for the international operation of the industry.

You will examine key trends in the oil and gas industry to analyse the future of the sector. You will learn how to evaluate the economic and social impact of oil and gas development, including the notion of the 'curse of oil'.

MSc Oil and Gas Management is intended to help prepare you for a wide range of potential roles in national and multinational energy companies, consultancies, energy ministries and international agencies.

COURSE STRUCTURE
We use a wide variety of teaching and learning methods which include lectures, seminars, study visits and group work. These are supported by a range of guest speakers from diverse academic and industry backgrounds.

Compared to an undergraduate course, you will find that this masters course requires a higher level of independent working. Assessment methods include essays, exams, presentations, portfolios of evidence and a dissertation.

Entry requirements
To apply for this course you need at least a 2:2 honours degree.

Fees and finance
The annual fee for this course is:
  • £6,500 if you are from the UK/EU. If you are a University of Sunderland graduate, you will receive a £1,000 alumni discount on your tuition fee.
  • £13,000 if you are an international student. However, all international students applying in 2020 are eligible for a £1,500 scholarship. This means that the total tuition fee you will pay is £11,500 each year.
Additional tuition fee discount for international students: All courses require you to pay 50% of the total tuition fee as a deposit. However, if you pay 100% of your tuition fee prior to CAS issuance, you will receive an extra £1,000 discount on your tuition fee. This would reduce the total annual cost of this course to £10,500.

If you do not wish to pay all of your tuition fees at once, you can choose to pay the remaining 50% up to three months after the start date. If you choose to pay in this way, you will not receive any extra discount, and the total annual cost of this course will be £11,500.

If you are a University of Sunderland graduate, you will receive a £1,000 alumni discount on your tuition fee.

You will be well placed to work in national and multinational energy companies, consultancies, energy ministries and international agencies.

With an advanced degree in Oil and Gas Management, you will be able to apply for roles including drilling engineers, energy engineers and senior planners, with average starting salaries of around £46,000 (according to Glassdoor).
