COURSE OVERVIEW
An MBA is an internationally respected business qualification. In one year you will develop a strategic understanding of all aspects of managing a successful business.
This degree has a specific focus on hospitality. You will complete the specialist module ‘Hospitality Management Studies’, and your dissertation will be on a topic related to hospitality management.
The course prepares you for senior roles that have major responsibilities. Our aim is to accelerate your progress towards well-paid positions of leadership.

COURSE STRUCTURE
Teaching methods include lectures, seminars, class discussions, case studies, group work, presentations and applied study.
Your progress will be assessed with the dissertation and assignments.
Compared to an undergraduate course, you will find that this masters course requires a higher level of independent reading and research.

Entry requirements
This course is designed to support career acceleration for suitably academically qualified applicants. In addition to relevant degrees and equivalent professional qualifications, we will accept all levels of practical work and work experience. This includes applications from candidates who have yet to graduate or have limited or no work experience post-degree who can display that they will benefit from a programme of this type.
We also require three passes at GCSE grade C or above, which must include Mathematics and English Language, or an equivalent qualification. For example, you could have a minimum of Level 2 Key Skills in Communication and Application of Number. If you have studied for a new GCSE for which you will be awarded a numerical grade then you will need to achieve a grade 4 or above.
You must also have a minimum level of English language skills. If English is not your first language, please see our English language requirements.
Accreditation of prior learning (APL)
If you feel you already know some of the topics covered in this course, either due to previous learning or from work experience, you may not need to study all of the course.
Accreditation of APL is the name given to the process of gaining credit towards a qualification because of something you have learnt in the past. If you are eligible for APL you won't have to learn the same topic again and can be exempt from a module, set of modules or year of a course.
Fees and finance
The annual fee is:
- £11,500 if you are from the UK or EU; if you are a University of Sunderland graduate, you will receive a £1,500 alumni discount on your tuition fee.
- £14,000 if you are an international student; all international students applying in 2020 are eligible for a £1,500 scholarship.
Additional tuition fee discount for international students: All courses require you to pay 50% of the total tuition fee as a deposit. However, if you pay 100% of your tuition fee prior to CAS issuance, you will receive an extra £1,000 discount on your tuition fee. This would reduce the total annual cost of this course to £11,500.
If you do not wish to pay all of your tuition fees at once, you can choose to pay the remaining 50% up to three months after the start date. If you choose to pay in this way you will not receive any extra discount and the total annual cost of this course will be £12,500.
If you are a University of Sunderland graduate, you will receive a £1,500 alumni discount on your tuition fee.

An MBA is a challenging qualification which requires significant dedication. Employers recognise its worth, and the value that an MBA-qualified business leader can bring to their organisation.
While you are studying for this course, you will be an Affiliate Member of the Chartered Management Institute (CMI). This gives you access to the CMI’s support resources and networking opportunities. If you have three or more year’s management experience when you graduate, you will be entitled to apply for full membership of the CMI or Chartered Status.
An MBA in Hospitality Management opens the doors to managerial careers in hotels, hospitality and global development.
Chartered Management Institute (CMI) Accreditation
All University of Sunderland in London MBA degrees are accredited by the CMI, a professional institution for management. Students achieving the MBA are awarded the CMI Level 7 Diploma in Strategic Management and Leadership in recognition of knowledge enhancement and understanding of the practice of management.
Graduating from a CMI-accredited course has been proven to boost employability by as much as 10%. According to the 2016/17 Destinations of Leavers from Higher Education (DLHE) survey, 58% of graduates from CMI-accredited courses were in graduate-level employment, further study or training within six months of graduating, compared with 48% from non-accredited business courses (based on UK students).
