COURSE OVERVIEW
BA (Hons) Events Management combines theoretical modules with practical placements, so that when you graduate you are work-ready. Modules include ‘Contemporary Business Issues in a Globalised Environment’, ‘Staging Events and Cultural Tourism’ and ‘International Hospitality Management’ giving the course a global edge, meaning you'll be ready to take on a role in events management anywhere in the world when you graduate.

COURSE STRUCTURE
You will be taught by passionate staff who produce world-leading research.
A typical week for you will include lectures, seminars, tutorials, open and resource-based learning, and supervised project and group work. You'll develop independent study skills and have opportunities to present ideas and information to other students as well as develop concepts and analyses in groups. You will also undertake several residential field study visits.
Assessment methods include written coursework, projects, presentations, practical exercises, time-constrained and multiple-choice examinations and the major project in your final year.

Entry requirements
Our typical offer is 72 UCAS points from a minimum of two A-Levels or equivalent (e.g. 1 x AVCE double award). We also require passes at GCSE grade C or above in Mathematics and English Language (or equivalent) in order to be able to progress from year 1 to 2.
Fees and finance
The annual fee for this course is:
- £6,800 for the foundation year - this includes a fee waiver for the foundation year of £2,450
- £9,250 for the next three years
Please note this course is not available to international students.
Employment
Students graduating with a degree in Events Management have access to a sector supporting over 500,000 workers in the UK alone. Our course combines theory with practical experience to give you the knowledge top employers are looking for. Event Managers have typical salaries of over £33,000 (according to Glassdoor).
Many of our graduates progress to managerial roles within the tourism and hospitality industry, with roles in hotel management, tourism development and resort office management to name a few. You will be well placed for high level roles in hotels, airlines, travel agencies, event organisations, heritage attractions, local authorities and other public sector bodies.
Career destinations
Many of our graduates go on to work in managerial roles within the tourism and hospitality industry. Job titles include Hotel Manager, Tourism Development Officer or Resort Office Manager. Employers include hotels, airlines, travel agencies, events organisers, heritage attractions, Local Authorities and other public sector bodies. Additionally, you will have a broad set of transferable skills that will equip you for a much wider range of graduate-level employment. Your course could also be a stepping stone to further study and research.
Paid placements
To further enhance employability we encourage you to undertake a 48-week placement between your third and final year. It effectively becomes the fourth year of a five-year course. Placements are paid, with an average salary of £14,000-£18,000 a year depending on your location.
Placements are an excellent opportunity to put your learning into practice and understand the context for your new knowledge. The contacts made during placements can also be valuable for future job offers.
Field trips
The course involves visits to a range of tourism and hospitality venues and initiatives. These visits around London, the North-East, throughout the UK, and international destinations such as Dublin, Prague, Barcelona and New York.
