The Dual LLB is a 4 year programme delivered in partnership with IE University, Spain. The programme is built upon the pillars of both common and civil law.

IE University, like The University of Law, values the importance of innovative teaching methods and professional and personal networking. Both institutions strive to help you develop the necessary skills and knowledge that will provide an essential foundation for a successful professional career.

You will experience a truly international learning experience combining studying three years in Madrid and Segovia with IE University in Spain and a fourth year on an international internship or at The University of Law. Successful students will be awarded both a qualifying Spanish law degree and a qualifying law degree in England and Wales.

This is a four year programme where the first 3 years are studied at IE University, Spain. In the final year you will either study options with IE University or the LPC/BPTC with The University of Law, UK.

Year 1 & 2 – IE University, Spain (Segovia Campus)

Year 3 – IE University, Spain (Madrid Campus)

Year 4 – IE University or The University of Law

UNIQUE LEGAL TRAINING

This is a truly unique program that gives you comprehensive knowledge of the fundamentals of Civil and Common Law, with a focus on European Union Law.

IE University has been granted a European Module within the Jean Monnet Programme to support the teaching and research of European common private law.

Possession of the Module demonstrates that the study of European common private law is approached transversally through four different courses: European Legal History, EU Law, Contracts, and Property, plus Advanced Seminars and international conferences. The Module allows students to develop a more integrated, global, and sophisticated understanding of European common private law.

AN INTERNATIONAL LEGAL EDUCATION

Students of the programme will take two complementary courses which are reflected in the two official academic qualifications they receive upon graduation:

During your first three years you will enjoy an international experience at IE University’s two campuses - a truly international university campus in Segovia, and an urban campus in the heart of Madrid’s legal district.

SEGOVIA CAMPUS

The IE University campus in the city of Segovia offers a true campus experience. It is housed in the Convent of Santa Cruz la Real, a historic building declared a national heritage site in 1931. YOUR 4TH YEAR AT THE UNIVERSITY OF LAW

In the final year a 20,000 word thesis must be submitted and you will then either study options with IE University or the LPC/BPTC with The University of Law, UK.

LEGAL PRACTICE COURSE

This programme allows you to meet the requirements of the representative bodies for solicitors and barristers in England and Wales in relation to the academic stage of training in England, and to ultimately become a fully qualified legal practitioner in Spain.

Finally, through the study of the Legal Practice Course (LPC) during the fourth year, you will qualify as a solicitor in England and Wales,* adding an attractive element to your profile regardless of where you wish to start your professional career. You can study the Legal Practice Course at any of The University of Law’s locations in the UK.
