Our Law with Criminology is a three year qualifying law degree. The course focuses on key legal topics and a variety of different aspects of criminology, including crime, criminal justice and criminal behaviour.

Over 90% of our tutors are qualified lawyers and there is a high level of face-to-face tuition. The course has a practical focus, with real-world application of the law and criminology. Employability is integrated into the course to give you the academic knowledge and key transferable skills which are in demand by today’s employers across the globe.

This course is ideal for students looking to pursue a career in the legal sector or, more specifically, within the criminal justice system.

ULaw offers excellent employability outcomes for students; 92% of our full-time UK LLB students graduating in 2017 secured employment or further study within six months of successfully completing their course.

The first year is a Foundation year, which focuses on developing an understanding of the legal sector and the key skills required to undertake the LLB (Hons) Law degree. The subsequent three years then follow our full-time course.

Students starting their course in September 2020 will have the opportunity to attend our International Leadership Summer School in Berlin, during the second year of their degree or third year of a degree with Foundation Year.* This week will focus on developing employability skills.

Our modular structure enables you to gain insight into critical legal topics and the fundamentals of criminology that are most useful in the legal and criminal justice system.

For full-time courses, you’ll study a total of 18 modules over the three years of the course. The modules for the optional foundation year are also shown below.

For Law modules, each single taught module consists of face-to-face tuition in 11 large groups and 11 x two-hour face-to-face sessions in small-group workshops.

In Semester 2 of Years 2 and 3 you choose three options from the modules listed below, and you must select at least one law module and four criminology option modules over Years 2 and 3.

Students studying at campuses who are also offering Law with Government and Technology; Law with Legal Innovation and Technology; Law with Criminal Justice and Business School courses, may be able to choose options from those programmes as well.

*All options are indicative and available subject to numbers. One option must be a Law option for the degree to be a Qualifying Law Degree and, at least four must be Business Modules to warrant the Business element of the degree.
