FULL-TIME (THREE YEARS)
Our Law with International Business is a three year qualifying law degree. The course focuses on key legal topics and a variety of different aspects of the methodology and practice of international commercial business.

The law modules are predominantly delivered by professionally qualified lawyers. The International Business modules are delivered by members of The University of Law Business School with high level of face-to-face tuition. The course has a practical focus, with real-world application of the law and international business. Employability is integrated into the course to give you the academic knowledge and key transferable skills which are in demand by today’s employers across the globe.

This course is ideal for students looking to pursue a career in the legal sector or international commercial sector.

The first year is a Foundation year, which focuses on developing an understanding of the legal sector and the key skills required to undertake the LLB (Hons) Law Degree. The subsequent three years then follow our full-time course.

INTERNATIONAL LEADERSHIP SUMMER SCHOOL
Students starting their course in September 2020 will have the opportunity to attend our International Leadership Summer School in Berlin, during the second year of their degree or third year of a degree with Foundation Year.* This week will focus on developing employability skills.

COURSE CONTENT
You’ll study a total of 18 modules over the three years of the course; the modules for the optional foundation year are also shown in the table below. You’ll gain insight into critical legal topics and the fundamentals of International Business to make you employment ready.

In Semester 2 of Years 2 and 3 you choose three options from the modules listed above, and you must select at least one law module and four international business option modules over Years 2 and 3.

For Law modules, each single taught module consists of face-to-face tuition in 11 large groups and 11 x two-hour face-to-face sessions in small-group workshops. 

Students studying at campuses offering Law with Criminology, Law with Criminal Justice, Law with Legal Innovation and Technology, Law with Government and Politics may also be able to choose options from those programmes as well.

COURSE STRUCTURE
Each year is made up of two semesters consisting of 12 teaching weeks and one week consolidation/revision and two weeks to complete assessments. You will study a total of 18 modules over the three years of the course.

  • Year 1: 31 study weeks including a one-week induction
  • Year 2: 30 study weeks plus one week optional International Leadership Summer School in Berlin
  • Year 3: 30 study weeks

ASSESSMENT
Assessments are spread out throughout the duration of the course, rather than having lots of exams at the end of the year. This means at the end of each semester, you have a revision/consolidation week followed by two weeks for assessment in each module.

METHOD OF ASSESSMENT
Throughout the course you are assessed by a variety of different assessment methods to enable you to demonstrate the development of your knowledge and skills throughout the programme. The methods of assessment include:

Examinations – two hours, ten multiple choice questions and a choice of two from six long form questions.

Coursework – essay, project report or portfolio.

Oral presentation.

The range of assessment methods reflects the practical nature of the programme and aligns the assessment with the learning outcomes of the programme. A mock assessment is included.

YOUR DEGREE CLASSIFICATION
You must pass each module to be awarded your LLB (Hons) Law Degree. The pass mark for each subject is 40%.

In calculating the overall average, for purposes of deciding the degree classification, the assessments are weighted as below.
