Accreditation of prior learning
If you feel you already know some of the topics covered in this course, either due to previous learning or from experience of work, then you may not need to study all of the course.

Accreditation of Prior Learning (APL) is the name given to the process of gaining credit towards a qualification because of something you have learnt in the past. If you are eligible for APL you won't have to learn the same topic again, and so you can be exempt from a module, set of modules or year of a course.

Employment
Graduates from BA (Hons) Events Management are ready to set off on an exciting career in a fast-paced industry. Events managers work on large scale sporting events such as the Olympics, music festival and global business conferences. The practical experience this course provides gives you an advantage when applying for stimulating jobs.

Many of our graduates go on to roles in events management, heritage tourism, festival co-ordination, exhibitions organisation and corporate events. Event managers, for example, have average starting salaries of £33,000 (according to Glassdoor).

Career destinations
Many of our graduates from courses related to tourism, hospitality and events go on to work within these fast-moving industries. Job roles include events manager, heritage tourism manager, festival co-ordinator, exhibitions organiser and corporate events manager.

In addition, you will have a broad set of transferable skills that will equip you for a much wider range of graduate-level employment. Your course could also be a stepping stone to further study and research.

These visits are local to London, the North-East, throughout the UK, and international to destinations such as Dublin, Prague, Barcelona and New York.

Paid placements
To further enhance employability we encourage you to undertake a 48-week placement between your second and final year. It effectively becomes the third year of a four-year course. Placements are generally paid, with an average salary of £14,000-£18,000 a year depending on your location.

Placements are an excellent opportunity to put your learning into practice and understand the context for your new knowledge. The contacts made during placements can also be valuable for future job offers.

We will support you at every stage of the placement process, from finding suitable placements to checking that everything is going well, and to make a final assessment of your performance during the placement. Recent placement employers include: IBM, Procter & Gamble, BT, Nissan, Marriott Hotels, PricewaterhouseCoopers and Adidas.

Top-up route
A top-up entry option is available to you if you have already successfully completed a Higher National Diploma (HND) or Foundation degree and wish to progress onto the final year of the Honours degree course. Topping up your existing HND or Foundation Degree will take one year of full-time study and may open up future career options to you depending on your chosen career path.

Contact us to find out how you can get credit for your previous learning and top-up your qualification to a range of degrees.
