COURSE OVERVIEW
The BA (Hons) Accounting and Financial Management (Top-Up) degree is designed for people who want to gain a full undergraduate degree. The course takes a minimum of nine months and a maximum of three years. You can study full-time or, if you prefer, part-time to fit around existing commitments. You will also qualify for our MAPS (Making Achievement Possible at Sunderland) programmes. These integrate support for study skills and future employability and are provided by our team of full-time Student Academic Advisors.

COURSE STRUCTURE
A typical week for you will include a mix of lectures, seminars and ‘surgeries’. You’ll spend significant amounts of time in independent preparation and assignments.

You will develop an understanding of strategic management accounting, financial management, business modelling and international financial reporting, among others. 

The course centres on getting your work-ready, with a particular focus on preparing you for an international career with a range of extra-curricular activities that give you the experience necessary to succeed as a leader in the business world.

Your progress will be assessed by written exams, case studies, assignments, and reports.

Entry requirements
Entry requirements: the typical entry requirement is the successful completion of an HND or its equivalent as follows:

  • BTEC HND in Finance
  • BTEC HND in Business and Management
  • BTEC Higher National Diploma in Business or a related area
  • ABE Advanced Diploma in Business Administration
  • IBAM Advanced Diploma in Business Administration
  • 240 credits or equivalent of a recognised UK undergraduate award in a relevant finance, business and management-related discipline
We also require three passes at GCSE grade C or above, which must include Mathematics and English Language, or a minimum of Level 2 Key Skills in Communication and Application of Number. If you have studied for a GCSE which has a numerical grade then you will need to achieve a grade 4 or above.

Fees and finance
The annual fee for this course is:
  • £9,250 if you are from the UK/EU
  • £11,500 if you are an international student. However, all international students applying in 2020 are eligible for a £1,500 scholarship. This means that the total tuition fee you will pay is £10,000 each year.
