OVERVIEW
This course focuses on a combination of technology, business and policy. It is ideal for students who have an interest in developing an in depth specialist knowledge and a critical understanding of the key aspects of cyber security and data governance.

This course will equip students with the skills to manage and analyse an organisation's data assets and security measures, and provide an understanding of data governance principles, practices and technologies. 

The University of Law Business School is an institutional member of Amazon Web Services Educate. This provides tutors and students of the MSc Cyber Security and Data Governance with access to the best collaboration tools, content training and AWS technology for cloud related learning. Upon graduation, you will be fully equipped with the practical skills needed for a technology career. GLOBAL ROTATION
You can expand your study experience by rotating across our campus locations in London and Berlin. During your time at ULaw Business School, you can complete modules at alternative campus locations, returning to your ‘home’ campus to complete your final module. WHO IS THIS COURSE FOR?
This Masters degree provides a postgraduate award with a strong focus on employability. It is ideal for those interested in switching to or progressing within a career in cyber security and data governance within any industry.

COURSE CONTENT & STRUCTURE
Students will study for one year, which is divided into two semesters and the summer period for the dissertation. Students will study four modules, each worth 30 credits; and another module worth 60 credits, totalling 180 credits.

The course will cover the following core modules:
  • Fundamentals of Cyber Security (30)
  • Applied Cyber Security (30)
  • Data Management (30)
  • Research Methods and Research Based Output (60)

In addition to the core modules, students will also be required to select one additional module from the following:
  • Blockchain (30)
  • Fintech (30)
  • Procurement and Supply Chain Management (30)   
Students who graduate from this degree may consider the following options if they wish to continue their studies:
  • PhD
  • Master of Business Administration (MBA)
  • Other professional accounting qualifications

WHO TEACHES ON THIS COURSE?
Vinayak Ram

Vinayak Ram is a Director at Protiviti and heads the cybersecurity practice for Protiviti in the UK. Vinayak is subject mater expert in cybersecurity and has extensive hands-on knowledge across the various domains in cybersecurity including penetration testing, security architecture and compliance frameworks. Vinayak has a global exposure to cybersecurity having worked in the US, UK, Middle East and South Asian geographies. Vinayak has a Master’s in Networked Systems from University of California, Irvine and a B.E in Telecommunications from the University of Mumbai, India. Vinayak also holds the CISA, CISM, PCI QSA and the CCSK certifications and is a regular speaker at several industry conferences.

Juan Manuel Duran

Juan Manuel Duran is currently Head of Data Strategy for the Assets and Liabilities Modelling Group at Barclays Bank and has over 22 years of experience in information technologies and financial services, delivering business intelligence, data warehouse and anti-money laundering solutions. Having also worked in a number of firms throughout his international career, Juan has gained extensive experience in project management, risk management, document management, business and technical analysis and application development.


Juan has a Master’s in Business Administration from Hult International Business School in London in addition to a Bachelor’s degree in Theoretical Physics from the University of Barcelona, where he also carried out doctoral studies for two years. Juan is a PRINCE 2 Certified Practitioner in project management and has an array of technical skills in analysing statistical data using SAS. 


Juan has experience as a teacher and guest speaker in both professional and educational environments, having taught different SAS technologies for external clients, in addition to delivering internal coaching and mentorship. He has also been a guest speaker in data management and data strategy at a leading international university.

ON CAMPUS STUDY
The programme is delivered in an interactive way with a real-world focus, preparing you for the dynamic business environment you will face after you graduate. Learning takes places both in and outside the classroom environment, traditional lectures and workshops are combined with a wealth of online resources to ensure that you get the most out of the programme. Face-to-face learning is supported by online resources, including the Financial Times, case studies, simulations, learning videos, reading materials, online testing and feedback. For each 30 credit module, there will be a three hour workshop.

Through our partnership with GISMA Business School, this course is available to study on campus in Berlin. Learning inside the classroom and beyond, this postgraduate degree has a real-world focus, preparing you for the dynamic business environment you will face after your graduation.

Traditional lectures and workshops are combined with a wealth of online resources to ensure that you get the most out of the programme.
